Knowing What You Can Afford
Before shopping for a car, it’s crucial to determine what you can afford in terms of monthly repayments. Here are two tools to assist you:
- Budgeting Tool: This tool helps you calculate your disposable income (spare money at the end of the month) to cover car expenses, including repayments, fuel, insurance, etc.
- Personalised Affordability Tool: For a more accurate calculation that takes your credit history into account, use our personalised affordability tool.
Finding a Car
Online vehicle listings are the easiest place to start your car search. You’ll find cars from various sellers, including dealerships, private sellers, and auction houses. You can apply for WesBank finance for cars from any of these sellers, as long as the car is being sold for at least R30,000 and you meet the basic requirements for a finance application.
See if You’ll Be Approved
Once you’ve found a car that fits your budget, use our Personalised Affordability Tool to check if you’d be approved for it, considering your affordability and credit health. You can do this for multiple cars while you shop around and save each approval to your profile. Once you’ve decided on a car and deal structure, it takes just a few clicks to finalize the deal and sign your contract online.
Finalise Your Deal and Sign
When you’re ready to secure your vehicle, we’ll provide you with a final deal reference. After paying any fees and/or deposit owed to the seller (private seller, dealership, or auction house), you can sign your vehicle finance contract online. WesBank will then pay the seller, and you can collect your vehicle.
Shortly after signing your contract, your online customer profile will be available, providing access to a host of account services and value-added services.
